How to Care for Hydrangea

Hydrangeas are very fragile flowers, especially in Singapore’s climate. Japan was the first country to plant them, followed by many other “cooler climate” countries. In Japan, this flower symbolises apology or gratitude. It is possible to grow hydrangeas in Singapore. However, they do not bloom as well as those from their cooler counterparts. The acidity of their soil determines the colours of the hydrangeas resulting in colours of hydrangeas ranging from green, pink and blue, among others.

What to do upon receiving Hydrangeas?

They drink a lot of water, and hence you need to feed them! Upon receiving the hydrangeas, submerge the stem in a vase and snip a chip of the stem (at a 45-degree angle). This will allow them to drink up faster.

How often to change the water?

Changing of water is required daily and also to keep them away from the glaring sun.

How long does Hydrangea last?

Hydrangeas typically do not last too long, probably a week or so. But if you do not care for it properly, it will wither even faster.
